Scuba Divers Club of Legnica "Pinoter"

Scuba Divers Club "Pinoter" was founded in 1972 by a group of friends: Romuald Derek, Wojciech Spiradek, Tadeusz Grigajtis, Jan Samocki, Jerzy Samocki, Kazimierz Winiarski, Andrzej Majecki, Jerzy Narkiewicz and Maryla Borysławska. Young people from Legnica, diving, tourism and nature enthusiasts with a help of the authorities from Legnica and District Fire Brigade Headquarters created a Scuba Diving Section in Polskie Towarzystwo Turystyczno Krajoznawcze. It soon appeared that this kind of activity is extremely necessary in Fire Brigade. The club became a Water Rescue Unit in Volunteer Fire Brigades in Legnica. The tasks for the volunteers included surfacing human corpses, any sunk objects and making an inventory of water structures. The Water Rescue Unit acted in our district. But our friends were asked to help in neighbouring districts and in former Zielona Góra and Wrocław Provinces. The members of the club remained faithful the ideas of coming to aid, training children, teenagers and adults. At the time of floods in Legnica in 1977 and 1997, divers from our club spared no effort in rescuing the property and life of citizens of Legnica. Water Rescue Unit in Volunteer Fire Brigades "Pinoter" taught the citizens of our city rules of appropriate behaviour near water, swimming and diving. "Pinoter" granted more than two hundred people diving ranks. In the 90s, in accordance with a new work policy of Fire Brigade Rescue Units in Legnica, we started training professional scuba divers for Province Fire Brigade Headquarters in Legnica. In 2002 due to rebuilding of the Fire Brigade premises and changes in organisation, we left rooms in State Fire Brigade. Currently, due to help from the President of Legnica, we occupy rooms in the Miniciapal Office storehouse in Legnica, at ul Szkolna. In 2004 next group of enthusiasts was awarded with diving ranks and during summer camp Lubrza 2004 our rescue team improved their qualifications and trained. Our friends Romuald Derek, Wojtek Spidarek, Kaziu Winiarski, Wiesiu Świder and Włodziu Przysłupski received from the Board of ZOSP RP medals "Za zasługi dla Pożarnictwa" for several years of voluntary work - CLICK!

The Water Rescue Unit in Volunteer Fire Brigades which operates in our club is a member of National Fire and Rescue System and was created to help local inhabitants during the flood. Throughout the year, the unit raises its qualifications in the swimming-pool, dives in quarries, gravel pits, lakes and trains in the Baltic Sea as well as does technical wreck diving and ice diving. Year by year the number of people who obtained diver certificates in our club has risen considerably.
Owing to the increasing popularity of the Internet the club members publish materials from their diving expeditions to the most exotic parts of the world. "PINOTER" web site lives thanks to a group of filming and underwater photography enthusiasts who enrich it with professional films and photographs showing the beauty of underwater world, people, places and their histories.
In 2008 our instructors helped the firefighters from State Fire Service in Legnica to raise their qualifications in diver certificates which is an incentive to deepen our cooperation in the years to come.
Our Association organises training throughout the whole year. Diving ranks can be obtained during summer training camp. This system of obtaining practical and theoretical knowledge guarantees a high level of training and gives the instructors the certainty that a given rank fully reflects the maximum abilities of divers. Weekend training systems do not give this level of certainty. Scuba Divers Club "Pinoter" gathers a group of people who are sympathetic, give help in difficult situations and support our activities. We would like to thank them for their help and ensure that we are not going to disappoint them.

With an underwater greeting: The same amount of diving and surfacing
